Paper Routes?
In all the old movies, whenever kids need to make some money, their parents suggest a paper route, and then they're off on a road of cliches involving dime-sized tips and papers landing in the shrubbery, flying through a window, or hitting a balding man clad in a bathrobe in the back of the head so that he spills coffee all over himself. Whatever happened to that scenario? Whatever happened to paper routes in general? I remember my cousins had one when they were younger, and I would follow along on my bike and throw some papers just for fun, and they felt so real at the time. The routes, not the paper, because that's obviously real enough. I just want an explanation for what happened to all the paper routes...their absence just takes us farther and farther away from tradition, and I want the opportunity to get hit in the head with a paper and spill grape juice all over myself. Yeah, so, I just reread some of this and it sounds absolutely crazy, so I'm sorry for the babbling but honestly...how does the world turn without paper routes?
